Landscapes......

is a genre intended to show different spaces within the world, often vast and unending, capturing the presence of nature. Landscape photographers usually attempt not only to convey the documentary aspect, but also an appreciation of the scenery that is being photographed. A crucial element of landscape photography is the light to the scenery. Preferred times are dusk or dawn when low angle light renders the landscape low contrast and sidelight. This light adds a feeling of depth to the picture. Landscape photography is at the same time one of the easiest and most difficult subjects to approach. It is easy because landscapes are so familiar and accessible, they are all around us. Landscapes are pretty permanent, they don't move, and so all that is necessary is to get there with a camera. The wind, the sounds, the smells, the relationship of distant mountains to nearby rocks - all these things are the landscape, the task is to isolate the important ones and somehow convey them in a purely visual way.
